The Importance of Exercise as We Age

One out of every three adults age 65 and older will fall. Ninety-five percent of hip fractures are caused by falls. Loss of balance is due to muscle atrophy. Our senior exercise programs have been helping people stay vertical since 2005.

The leading cause for seniors to lose their balance is muscle atrophy (decrease in muscle strength). Lifting weights is a great way to build back muscle strength. Starting a weight bearing senior exercise program will make a big difference in both strength and balance. Located in the Delray Beach Boynton Beacharea since May of 2005, we have been able to improve  the balance and strength of hundreds of neighborhood seniors. As creator and instructor at 50 Plus Fitness Center Deray/ Boynton Beach, I would like to thank all of my members for allowing me to help them improve their lives.

Times have changed.Bicycling and treadmilling are no longer the only exercises you should be doing. Current research  shows that weight-training exercise is the best way to reverse muscle atrophy. A strong body means better posture, balance and agility. The more you do the less you become.
